St Gerard’s lost to Gonzaga in a hard fought defensive tussle at Stradbrook today. The game was in the balance right to the end with Gonzaga holding their nerve and narrowly coming out on top. In the end there was only a penalty kick in it. Sam Kingston put St Gs ahead after only 10 minutes with a straight forward kick which was awarded after St Gerards had opened the first quarter with an onslaught of constant pressure. St Gerard’s JCT beat Templeogue 21-10 in the first round of Fr Godfrey Cup. They will now face King’s Hospital in the second round next Tuesday 1st February at 2.30pm at Old Wesley RFC, Ballycorus Road, Kilternan, Co Dublin. Son of old boy Cian Cafferky-Aaron scored twice in the second half to seal the deal. The Captain lead by example from start to finish.The deadlock was broken by Jack Ryan who scored 20 minutes in. St Gerards 2010 Annual Gathering was a great success with over 80 Past Pupils and Teachers attending. Over 80 past pupils headed into Kobra on Leeson Street. Past pupils, teachers past and present enjoyed the hospitality of John Coffee the owner of Kobra (past pupil – left 1984) a fantastic venue on Leeson Street. The new format for the PPU Annual gathering worked really well this year. It was decided to have a less formal gathering with drinks and finger food, rather than a sit down dinner. St Gerards Ball at the Ritz raises €38,000.00 Kieran O’Brien Unicef and Janice Ryan Ball Committee The 5th St. Gerard’s Ball took place on Saturday November 13th at the Ritz Carlton in Enniskerry. The event was attended by 185 guests who were treated to a champagne reception, dinner with wines and plenty of entertainment. A raffle, Silent Auction and Auction presided over by Marcus Magnier helped raise €38,000.
