The Junior girls beat Rathdown 1-0 today at home to advance to 3rd round of the Junior Cup.

The Junior girls beat Rathdown 1-0 today at home to advance to 3rd round of the Junior Cup. St Gerards had the better of exchanges in the first half and went 1-0 up going into the break.
They continued to dominate in the second half but could not quite get the second goal to take the pressure off. The Rathdown goalie has to be applauded for keeping Rathdown in the game. She saved multiple goal scoring opportunities in the second half. In fact St Gerards could not convert any of their four short corners in the second half .They kept the pressure on and held on for a well deserved victory. Deana Kissane was very strong in the midfield and sent the ball powerfully up to her forwards on many occassions. Olivia Flanagan was also prominent through out. The stick work , shooting and passing of  Moirin O Neill and Hannah Reynolds was superb .Louise Gilmore and Emma  Keys were solid in defence throughout assisted by Clara O Shea and Clare Byrne. Well done St Gerards Juniors and may your Cup run get you all the way…

The Seniors start their plate run  in the Senior Cup.- Good luck to them.

Girls hockey is in rude health and there is plenty of depth through out the Senior school. The Minor  A’s, B’s and C’s are all unbeaten in their League and cup matches so far. The First year teams are also doing very well. So plenty to look forward to over he rest of this year and in fact over the next few years.
